A vibrant reflection of Mexico.
Fonda’s interior design, crafted by Alessio Nardi of A_nrd Design Studio, is a vibrant reflection of Mexico’s cultural richness, blending the warmth of rural landscapes with the vivid hues of urban life.
Inspired by the historic haciendas of the Yucatan, the rich textiles of Guanajuato, and the intoxicating energy of Mexico City, each space within Fonda showcases the beauty of Mexican craftsmanship through a contemporary lens.
The design comes to life through collaborations with artists who share Fonda’s commitment to quality and cultural integrity. Among them is Fernando Laposse (pictured), a renowned Mexican designer known for transforming humble, natural materials like sisal, loofah, and corn leaves into refined design pieces.
The curation of the space.
Working alongside Santiago Lastra and Alessio Nardi on the curation of the space, Fernando has enlisted his network of emerging artists and designers to collaborate in an ever-changing collection of pieces to furnish the restaurant that champions the power of biodiversity and raw strength of natural and sustainable materials.
Fernando’s own bespoke creation, the ‘Wild Beast,’ a shaggy pink sloth woven from agave fibers, takes centre stage at Fonda, hanging over the staircase and showcasing ancestral techniques from Oaxaca. Through these collaborations, Fonda’s design captures the essence of Mexico’s artistic heritage while highlighting the innovative spirit of its contemporary artisans.
